The Training: Why It’s Needed and How It Can Help

Despite delicious product innovation, menu redesign, and supply chain improvements, so often we see that companies' sustainable food offerings and consumer engagement campaigns don't gain the traction they deserve. Sustainable eating remains niche instead of the norm. In part, this is due to a problem with messaging. The way we are marketing and communicating about sustainable eating is simply not exciting or appealing, and it is triggering emotional responses like anxiety or guilt. Food for Climate League was born to address this challenge. We look at sustainable eating through a unique lens that integrates people’s core human needs for control, community, and purpose, to show all the ways that sustainable food is exciting, nourishing, and mood-boosting.

Through a two-hour virtual or in-person workshop, we take participants through our 10 best practices for communicating climate-smart eating—in ways that have been shown to improve purchase intent and sales of sustainable offerings. Our experts in consumer behavior change and storytelling will lead your stakeholders through an interactive training on how to apply Food for Climate League’s toolkit to their organizations’ own content--whether it be existing or forthcoming packaging or menu language, website copy, social media posts, video script, or other consumer-facing language. Participants will leave this training equipped with the evidence-based framework and tools they need to market sustainable food options in ways that will truly resonate with the masses. This training can deliver direct value to food companies, CSR departments, marketing departments, trade associations, investors, NGOs, institutions, and public sector officials--tailored to their distinct needs and audiences.
